Femina Hip is proud to announce its partnership with Plan International in the implementation of the “Girls Get Equal: Realising Rights and Building Resilience” project in Sumbawanga District, Rukwa Region.
This initiative will directly benefit over 28,000 adolescent girls and young people, while reaching a wider community of more than 213,000 individuals. Femina Hip will receive TZS.1,640,037,846 for a duration of 4 years from Aug 2025 – July 2029, to support this important work.
Speaking on behalf of Femina Hip, the Executive Director, Ruth Mlay, emphasized the importance of this partnership:
“At Femina Hip, we believe that empowering adolescent girls and young women is not just about transforming individual lives, it is also about building stronger, more resilient communities. Through this project, we will address critical issues including access to inclusive education, economic empowerment, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and protection from harmful practices and environments. Our work with youth-led organisations and communities on the ground will ensure that young voices are heard, and that lasting change is achieved.”
The project will enable adolescent girls and young women to exercise their rights, make informed life choices, and actively participate in shaping their futures. With over 25 years of experience in youth engagement through Fema Clubs and other innovative platforms, Femina Hip is uniquely positioned to drive meaningful change in collaboration with Plan International.
This partnership reinforces Femina Hip’s commitment to advancing gender equality, youth empowerment, and climate resilience in Tanzania. Together, we aim to reduce early marriage, teenage pregnancy, and gender-based violence while promoting education, entrepreneurship, and leadership opportunities for the next generation.
